 ALICE (GREGORI0) Nicolas' (8T1) recollection of former class/schoolmates (September 12, 2001)

dear brian,

2. nick parayno- yes, i remember him. medyo maliit siya at laging nakangiti. did not make a deep impression on him though. this is what i've been telling before that you choose people that make a good impression on you. kaya etong sa kanya hindi masyadong clear.

8. grace apor- not much recollections either. pero i remember her appearance. medyo brown ang buhok niya. bakit crush mo ba siya dati?

these are just recollections and we can just look back with so much joy in our hearts. kaya share na kayo!
yung mga HS pictures ko nasa bahay. mamaya baka magkuwento ulit ako kapag may time ako.

advance merry christmas pala sa inyo. ang aga ng christmas gift ko kay santa--being able to communicate with you guys.

muuaahhhh

August 3, 2003: From Lorenzo B. Ziga
Did you know that.....MRHS began as an annex of Quezon City High School. The first building was the Narcissus Building (now used as housing by some MRHS faculty) at the back of the elementary school. I think Mrs. Inez was the first head teacher then afterward, the first principal. (All of these info may be found in the first few issues of The Trailblazer) Mrs. Tena was one of the firstteachers and she was the first adviser of The Trailblazer. It was named Manuel A. Roxas High School in honor of the Philippine President who gave his name to what was then known as government housing Project I (di ba may Proj. 2, Proj. 4) yung Roxas District was Project 1. After the school population grew, the school moved to the dug-outs of the Amoranto Stadiumwhere it stayed until 1977. The whole stadium was the MRHS campus, some parts of its though were shared with the training quarters for the QC police. Thus the stadium always smelled unpleasantly of piss. It was not until 1975 during the advent of Imee Marcos' Kabataang Barangay that the gymnasium was refurbished which was the venue for the first junior and Senior prom during the Martial law years in MRHS, that of batch 78. Hope I can share more trivia about MRHS.

Did you know: (This one is for batch 82 up) Before, the only school building that was being used was the "Annex" building in Lilac Street (now a temporary housing for teachers), in 1971.  MRHS was allowed to  temporarily occupy the Amoranto Stadium, for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th years to hold classes there. The bleachers were used for some subjects, and in 1976 the new L-Shape bldg. at the corner of Chuatoco and Reyes sts., which is being used upt o now. At present the school have a 6 2storey high buildings and a covered court in the center.

Did you know that the best and the trusted cook in the white house is a product of MRHS? His name is Ferdie Garcia 7T8, the trusted cook of the pres of the usa and also, in 1978 there is another male cook who always wins cooking contest and is the sought after cook of the teachers, he is Napoleon Hebron also from b78, kahit saan magagaling ang produkto M.R.H.S. mabuhay!

July 11, 2003: From Joy Velasco 7T9
Did you know that: sometime in 1978, Danny Quiambao 7T8 ( who is now a pastor ), composed a folk song entitled "hoy, kamusta ka". in 1979 , "yours truly", julius velasco, performed that song at y.m.c.a. conference in baguio city. it was an instant hit! some students ask for the lyrics with chords. and i was up all night doing a repeat performance. Was is the song or my rendition? whatever both are products of M.R.H.S. mabuhay!
